SQL-Hub - Database Merging Tool FAQ
Is there a limit to the number of databases which can be combined?
There is no limit to the number of databases you can merge using SQL-Hub.
What types of database are supported?
How up to date is the information in the central database?
The central database is synchronized to a schedule so the information you are seeing is as live as you need.
Is there any risk of data corruption to my existing systems?
The SQL-Hub merged database manages a copy of your existing information so the original systems will be unaffected. They will continue to run entirely as before and any demands on the central database will not effect the running of the original systems. It will not be possible to write to the original systems via SQL-Hub so you can be safe in the knowledge that the data cannot be corrupted.
What happens if we need to install updates or make changes to the source databases?
No problem, SQL-Hub will not interfere with any updates or changes to the source databases and will continue to synch the data as normal (if it still exists). When you are ready to merge or update the central database to the new structure you can do this at the touch of a button.
Do I need a service or middleware to be running on all the servers for SQL-Hub to work?
No, SQL-Hub uses standard database technology to do all the work for you on the central server. No additional software or services need to be running on the source servers to merge or synchronize your databases.
How can I make use of all this data once I've merged it into one database?
JetViewer, Burr IST's unique, demand driven, web based, data browser and reporting tool, gives you a complete, joined up, view of all your organisation's information.
